A young, fruity, easy drinking Merlot. Characters of blackcurrant and spice with firm tannins. Will go well with barbecue meats as well as on its own.

Meet the winemakers – Sunday 18th December

Hawke’s Bay Boutique Winemakers Association is a group of like minded small wineries that are working together to promote their wines. To this end, there is a ‘meet the winemakers’ event on the last Sunday of each month during the summer.

The wineries collectively set up small tents /gazebos at one of the participating wineries and provide entertainment (music), food, none alcoholic beverages, giving you the opportunity to taste several wines – and buy your favourites – at one location in a relaxing family-friendly atmosphere.

This is the second year these events are taking place and becoming more popular each time. Participating wineries include:

The results of the Hawkes Bay A&P Wine Awards have been released and Ash Ridge continues its stunning run of results. Once again the 2009 Syrah takes a GOLD medal, two in a row now! Also on its first wine show outing the 2010 Chardonnay takes a Silver medal, amazing results from such a young vineyard. For full results see www.wineshow.co.nz.

Gold at the Bragato Wine Awards

Our 2009 Syrah has taken a gold medal at the 2011 Bragato Wine Awards. This was an amazing vintage and we are in some esteemed company, so this is real vindication of the quality of this wine.

Time flies in the vineyard, it seems only a short time ago we were worrying about frosts and bud burst and now we are about to harvest the first grapes of the season. We are harvesting some early Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay this week, always a great time of year!

Things are going from strength to strength at Ash Ridge and we are looking forward to the New Year and a new vintage with great anticipation. More medals at the Hawkes Bay A&P Show

Despite being a new boy on the block, Ash Ridge continues to consistently pick up medals. Most recently our Syrah has been rewarded with a Silver at the A&P show, and our first release Chardonnay has been given a bronze.
