We specialise in producing hand-crafted premium wines. We concentrate on producing only four wines, in a belief that these are the wines that Hawkes Bay can excel at.
The Whites
Sauvignon Blanc
Whilst New Zealands principal grape the Sauvignon Blancs from Hawkes are quite unique. Much more tropical in the flavour spectrum we have found our fruit to be particularly suited to barrel fermentation. This winemaking technique allows us to produce a stunning wine, full of tropical flavours, incredibly food friendly, and that appeal to most palats.
Chardonnay
Hawkes Bay is a natural home to this Queen of grapes. Pefect growing conditions allow us to produce wines redolent in citrus and stone fruit, subtle use of oak gives these wines complexity and structure, and will give them years in the bottle to enable future drinkers to savour the Hawkes Bay sun.
The Reds
Syrah
Made in the North Rhone style, Hawkes Bay Syrah is rapidly becoming known as New Zealands next great wine. Whilst still made in small quantities and with our vineyards relatively young, recent vintages have shown that this style can be world class, and will only go from strength to strength.
The “Bordeaux” Blend
Using traditional Bordeaux varieties – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, we determine the proportions of this blend each vintage depending on the season to produce the best possible wine. Thus each year this wine will be unique and truely reflect the journey from vine to wine.
“New Zealand, particularly Hawke’s Bay, remains with Napa, the natural home of the claret lover outside of Bordeaux”. This is how Stephen Spurrier, a globally recognised authority on Bordeaux and New World Wines recently described Hawke’s Bay in Decanter Magazine.
