The 2013 harvest in Hawkes Bay already ranks as one of the greats. A long hot dry summer combined to create the ideal conditions to produce outstanding Syrah. Displaying all of the charaters that we have come to love from our vineyard, this wine also has great mid palate depth that takes the wine to a new dimension, similar to the great vintages of 2009 and 2010. Floral and silky with rich blackcurrant fruit, this wine will age very well, but pent up demand for 2013 reds will not see availability for long.
Winemaking – Fermented in small opentop fermenters, the must was hand plunged twice a day. The wine was then gently pressed off skins before being matured in french oak barrels for 10 months.
Harvested – 2nd to 9th April 2013
Bottled on – 5th March 2014
Drink – Now or cellar 5-8 years.
